A stratified squamous epithelium covers it. endocervical canal, establishes communication between vagina and endometrial cavity, paved with a mucous secreting glandular epithelium. In vivo light scattering for the detection of cancerous and precancerous lesions of the cervix.
A noninvasive optical diagnostic system for detection of cancerous and precancerous lesions of the cervix was evaluated in vivo. The optical system included a fiber-optic probe designed to measure polarized and unpolarized light transport properties of a small volume of tissue. An algorithm for diagnosing tissue based on the optical measurements was developed that used four optical properties, ...

Nucleolar organizer regions (Ag-NORs) were studied in patients with cervical precancerous and cancerous lesions along with controls. The data revealed a statistically significant decrease of Ag-NORs in cancer patients, as well as in women with severe precancerous lesions as compared with controls. A similar decrease in the amount of Ag-staining was also observed in both cancer and severe dyspla...
متن کاملGlobal DNA methylation in precancerous and cancerous lesions of the uterine cervix.
INTRODUCTION Persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the primary causal agent in the development of the uterine cervix carcinoma. Nevertheless, only a minority of high-risk HPV-associated lesions progress to cervical cancer, suggesting involvement of other molecular alterations. Among putative changes, aberrant methylation might be a crucial event. DESIGN Paraffin-embedded samples ...
متن کاملDiagnostic approach for precancerous and early invasive cancerous lesions of the uterine cervix.

About 273,000 women die from cervical cancer each year, 85% of which take place in developing countries. Cervical cancer has a slow progress, from pre-invasive cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) to invasive phases, meaning that the disease can be diagnosed while in the phase of pr...
